In February 2017 Aframsouth celebrated its fifth year of being the co-sponsor of the Tuscaloosa African Film Festival held at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The festival provides award winning short films and full feature films created by filmmakers from the African continent and the African Diaspora. Children’s films and activities are also included. The event is co-sponsored by the Edward A. Ulzen Memorial Foundation.
The Tuscaloosa African Film Festival works to provide opportunities for audiences to view films from diverse cultures and artistic styles of the African diaspora. We seek to foster intercultural understanding and education through the creative work of film makers throughout the world.
In 2018 the festival will be renamed. The new name of the festival will be The Tuscaloosa Africana Film Festival.
